Madison County Fairgrounds Through the Years

The Fremont Fair Association purchased the almost 30-acre parcel for the Madison County Fairgrounds in August of 1911. The first fair was held September 19-21, 1911. At that time, there was a half-mile horse race track that was used. The total investment of the Fairgrounds was $15,000.00.

When Madison County was created in 1913, the Fairgrounds became property of Madison County.

New corrals were built in June of 1945, along with grandstand repairs. A 20-stall barn was built on the Fairgrounds in October of 1945 to accommodate the local community who needed a place to board their horses.

Fairgrounds Today

Today, the Madison County Fairgrounds remains a place for the community to gather and celebrate the Western heritage that makes our community special. With events that include the Whoopee Days Rodeo, Rexburg Farmer’s Market, and the Madison County Fair, there is always something going on at the Fairgrounds!
